“Brilliant Things” Seminole Heights Mural
"Brilliant Things" is a celebration of collaboration and the merging of distinct artistic contribution. Designed by Carlos Pons Paz, this mural features the dynamic patterns of Annalee Edwards, an extraordinary artist with autism whose vibrant and energetic designs form the foundation of the mural's background.
Carlos Pons Paz, who worked as an art instructor at a day training center for adults with special needs from 2013 to 2017, discovered Annalee's incredible talent during his time there. Annalee's ability to create intricate patterns with a natural sense of color in a hyper-focused flow state inspired Carlos to incorporate her work into his mural design.
The mural stands as a testament to perseverance and community support. After several design proposals for other buildings, this project finally came to fruition thanks to the coordination efforts of Melissa Deming & Urban Art Attack and the support of local business owner Greg Barnhill, who provided the wall. The Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association generously funded the mural, enabling this artistic vision to come to life.
"Brilliant Things" not only showcases the beauty of artistic collaboration but also highlights the importance of inclusive opportunities and community involvement in the arts. This mural is a vibrant addition to the neighborhood, embodying the spirit of creativity and unity.
